The Su Collection follows the Japanese aesthetic of su — meaning plain or unadorned — with the idea that simplicity is not only modest, but could possibly be more appealing than luxury. It embodies the spirit of Emeco, both in form and choice of materials.
Nendo is a Japanese design firm founded by Oki Sato in 2002. Their Su Collection for Emeco embraces new, surprising, eco-conscious materials, discovered through an ongoing exploration of eco-conscious resources, such as eco-concrete, reclaimed barn wood, cork, and recycled plastic.

Su stool and table bases:
Clean aluminum bases with soap and water. Dry with a soft cloth. You can also use Windex®, Formula 409® or similar spray cleaner, with or without bleach, followed by a lint-free towel. Hydrogen peroxide-based cleaners may also be used, dilution level 1:10. Wash any film or residue with hot water. Do not use stainless steel cleaner on any aluminum furniture. For heavy-duty dirt or oil, use very hot water and strong soap, followed by light scrubbing in the direction of the aluminum grain with a soft-bristled brush or damp Scotch-Brite® pad.
Anodized aluminum is corrosion-proof and can be used outdoors. However, we suggest cleaning the base with soap and water every two weeks to remove grit and other air pollutants that can pit the surface.
Clean reclaimed wood bases with a warm, soapy, damp cloth gently applied to the surface. Do not use any harsh or abrasive cleaning agents. Periodic use of high-quality furniture polish is recommended.
Ash and Walnut solid wood tabletops:
Each tabletop is handcrafted from solid ash or walnut. Differences in appearance are natural. Clean with mild soap and water. Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaners.
Take care not to expose the wood to extremes in temperature or humidity. Wet surfaces should be dried immediately. Wood changes color over time under normal conditions of light exposure, but do not expose directly to sunlight and heat.
Accoya wood tabletops:
Accoya wood tabletops are suitable for outdoor applications. Like any natural wood species, Accoya will grey and change color when exposed to exterior conditions. Regular cleaning with a rag or soft brush, a mild cleaner, and water is recommended for finish longevity. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents. Power/pressure washing should be avoided.
Laminate and HPL tabletops:
Use a clean, damp, nonabrasive cotton cloth, and a mild liquid detergent or household cleaner. Rinse with clean water using a clean, non-abrasive cotton cloth.
