Inspired by the natural flexibility of a fern leaf, this chair evenly distributes weight as you move to help relieve pressure. At its core is our patented Wave Suspension system, which mimics the human spine and cradles your body in comfort.

To create Fern, our designers partnered with the Human Performance Institute at Western Michigan University, where we conducted comfort studies with experts in biomechanics, physical therapy, and kinesiology.

How to Adjust & Care For Fern
  • Vacuum your chair as needed.
  • For additional cleaning, use a solution of lukewarm water and mild detergent (about 10%). Gently apply in a circular motion, then rinse with warm water and dry with a soft cloth.

Materials

Choose from breathable mesh, our zero-waste digital knit, or soft vegan leather. Mesh lets air pass through to naturally regulate body temperature. Our signature digital knit is knit to fit each chair using custom-fiber fabric. For a luxe look, choose our semi-aniline leather — it’s soft, durable, and easy to clean.

Lumbar

Cradle your lower back with Fern’s built-in support. Or add even more with an optional adjustment that moves in a 3.5" range.

Forward Tilt

Angle the seat downward by 5° to support a forward-leaning posture — perfect for focused tasks. 

Seat Height

Adjust the seat up and down depending on your height. Your knees should be at a 90° angle with your feet flat on the floor.

Tilt Tension

Adjust how much force is necessary to recline in your chair.

Wow! The comfort and craftsmanship of this chair is amazing. It is adjustable and can be made to fit as each person needs! Wow! My husband was having shoulder pain and within a week of using this chair his pain is drastically reduced!

Wish I hadn't waited so long to buy one

I had a fern chair at my previous job but didn't realize who made it. I loved it. When I switched jobs, I bought a cheap office chair from Amazon since my new job allowed hybrid. After only a week, my hips and back hurt. I tried a few others, same issue. I reached out to my old facility manager at my previous job to ask who made the chairs. Went to the Haworth website, saw they were having a sale, bought what I had at my last job (plus a head rest), and when it got here....holy cow, the relief was instant. I just wish I had ordered sooner so that it was here for my 4 day virtual training class. Oh well, my class next month will be enjoyed in comfort.

Great so far

I've purchased 2 Fern chairs. We've only used them a few times; so far they ares great! Comfortable and supportive at the same time, while also being stylish. Only wish is that I could have been able to select beige/sand colored arm rests for the beige chair instead of the gray that comes with it. The gray does not match well. Still waiting on a reply from Haworth if changing them is possible.

I was skeptical

This chair is amazing. Never spent this much on a chair, but it was worth every penny. I usually stick to $500 range, but went for it. It came fully built which was a great start. Very comfortable. I'm 6'3 228lbs... and this chair rocks.
