Founded by Monling Lee and Justin Donnelly, JUMBO works from the belief that modern design should be serious fun. The Fortune Chair reflects that philosophy—blending technical precision, expressive form, and a shared love of food and memory into a sculptural lounge chair with inviting curves and a vibrant palette.

The inspiration traces back to a nostalgic moment from Monling’s childhood. After immigrating from Taiwan to the United States at age thirteen, she encountered her first fortune cookie—an experience that left a lasting impression. The wafer’s distinctive pinched-circle shape and the surprise message hidden inside became the spark for this joyful design.

The chair’s abstract form subtly references the beloved cookie, inviting a moment of recognition and discovery. Crafted to meet contract-quality standards, the Fortune Chair is made from colorfast, low-maintenance material with a drainage hole in the seat for outdoor use. A hidden grip beneath the seat makes it easy to move, while its nostalgic color palette and sculptural silhouette bring personality to residential, hospitality, and outdoor spaces alike.

Care

Cleaning
For everyday cleaning, wipe with a soft, damp cloth and a non-abrasive, bleach-free cleaner. For tougher marks, use a mild detergent (such as dish soap diluted in warm water) and a soft brush. Dry with a soft cloth or chamois.

UV Exposure
Made from UV-stabilized low-density polyethylene (LDPE), this product is designed for outdoor use. Like all polyethylene, prolonged exposure to extreme conditions may cause wear over time. In extreme temperatures (below 15°F or above 100°F), we recommend covering when not in use to help preserve the finish.

Polishing & Scratches
To maintain the original finish, use a plastic polish such as NOVUS® Plastic Clean & Polish. For high-traffic use, polish monthly; for normal use, every 2–3 months. This can help minimize the appearance of minor scratches and wear.
