Model 1000 | Date 1998 | Mario Bellini

In 1998, we placed six Bellini Chairs in an all-white, 50-foot-long booth at the annual Salone furniture fair in Milan. We knew this modern indoor-outdoor chair was something special and deserved a striking debut—and to say we stole the show would be an understatement.

Everyone who walked by stopped to admire the sleek, sculptural lines. Some asked if there’s a metal frame hidden inside (there isn’t). But the most striking response was when the owner of a leading furniture retailer saw it and stopped the presses on his catalog to add The Bellini Chair® to its cover. Today, the Bellini continues to impress. Exceptionally comfortable with a slightly flexible back, this sturdy, stackable, lightweight chair is tough enough to withstand use in a busy restaurant and elegant enough to flatter a sophisticated studio or home.

This chair earned celebrated Italian architect and designer Mario Bellini his eighth Compasso d’Oro award in 2001. Bellini resides in the design collections of many museums worldwide.

Made in USA, this indoor-outdoor chair is stackable up to six high.

Care

For minor spots Heller recommends a damp soft cloth and non abrasive bleach free cleaner.
For heavier marks a mild bleach free detergent (such as dishwashing liquid diluted in warm water) and soft brush with will be sufficient. Wipe excess water off with a chamois.

UV Exposure

Our rotationally molded product is manufactured from Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) with UV stabilizers. All polyethylenes are susceptible to degradation upon long term exposure; the result is the material becomes brittle. UV stabilizers act to absorb, transfer, and reflect UV. It is recommended in extreme weather (defined as below 15°F and above 100°F) the items be covered when not in use to prolong the finish of the material.

Polishing and Scratches

We recommend polishing the Furniture with NOVUS® Plastic Clean & Polish once a month for high traffic uses; every two the three months for normal use.

This helps to maintain the original finish and can help to hide minor scratches and wear.

NOVUS® has several products for various levels of scratches, the website: www.novuspolish.com will provide more information about their products and where they can be purchased.

Meet the Designer

Mario Bellini

Since the 1960s, the versatile Mario Bellini has been celebrated for his distinctive designs in architecture, master planning, interiors, furnishings, and industrial design. Born in Milan in 1935, Bellini graduated in architecture from the Milan Polytechnic in 1959. After working as design director of La Rinascente, he was hired in 1963 by Olivetti to re-design its office machines. Olivetti helped him satisfy what he has called his “insatiable curiosity,” by allowing him free rein and excitement of working with engineers, modelers, and painters. He could explore industrial production in terms of his grounding in classical architecture. Architectural logic was expressed in an organic form language.

Claudio Bellini

Milan-born Claudio Bellini (b. 1963), son of design pioneer Mario Bellini, emerged from his father's shadow in 1996 when he established his own multidisciplinary studio after graduating from Politecnico di Milano and gaining experience at Mario Bellini Associates. His revolutionary 1998 TW Collection for Frezza redefined contemporary office design, establishing him as a visionary whose harmony-focused approach balances beauty with efficiency. Now leading an internationally recognized firm, Bellini collaborates with prestigious brands worldwide and has earned numerous awards, including his work with Heller Furniture on the versatile indoor-outdoor Bellini Stool created alongside his father.
