Care

Clean with soap and water. Dry with a soft cloth. You can also use bleach or a hydrogen peroxide-based cleaner (dilution level 1:10). Wash any film or residue with hot water. Alcohol-based cleaners may appear to whiten the reclaimed polypropylene material. If so, wipe with a lubricant such as WD-40 to remove any residue and restore the surface.

Durable by design.

Make more with less.

Emeco was founded in 1944 to make chairs for the US Navy out of salvaged aluminum. Today, it’s chairs for you out of plastic, metal, and wood. By keeping that waste out of oceans and landfills, the brand continues to explore and innovate ways to protect our planet. From materials to methods, it’s a commitment to sustainability that also happens to produce beautiful design.

Meet the Designer

Embracing the ethos of democratic design, French industrial architect Philippe Starck has designed everything from household objects to celebrity yachts. His conceptual work centers on one thing: the experience of the person using the design.

A Second Life for Style

Polypropylene is one of the most versatile plastics around, but production means cut-offs and waste. This chair is made from the leftover bits that wind up on the floor at plastic factories, plus discarded wood and sawdust from lumber yards. The result is a sustainably made chair with a story of many lives.

Crafted in America

Emeco makes products in the USA. Just like they always have, since 1944. At their factory in Hanover, Pennsylvania, craftsmen turn scrap materials into chairs so strong that each one is guaranteed for life. That's how they define sustainability. Begin with what's left over. Turn it into what will last. Pretty much the Emeco story.
